Back in 2013, a few of us set out to conquer the Mawson trail from end to end, riding from Blinman in the Flinders Ranges to Adelaide over 14 days.  The trip wasn’t without its challenges; headwinds, mechanical issues, one of the group even threw in the towel….but it was a fun and rewarding ride which left us thinking about where the next off-road tour would be.

In early 2015, we decided we’d dust off the tents & trailers and tackle the Munda Biddi Trail in Western Australia.  The Munda Biddi Trail (which means path through the forest in the Noongar Aboriginal language)  is a world-class nature-based off-road cycling experience.  There are few places left in the world where an 1100km track could be built through an undeveloped natural corridor. Combine Western Australia’s vast areas of unspoiled forests and bushland, gentle terrain, and year-round cycling weather, and you have the ideal setting for an off-road cycle trail.

The trail meanders from Mundaring near Perth in the north, to Albany on the south coast. We’ll be setting off from Mundaring in early October, aiming to arrive in Albany three weeks later.  As we did on the Mawson Trail, we’ll be riding unsupported, carrying & towing all our gear and supplies.  It’s not everyone’s idea of a ‘holiday’, but we think it’s a great way to travel.

There’ll be two of us riding; myself (Dan) and my mate Tim.  Tim’s nickname is Tennis due to his last name being Ennis.  I thought i’d clear that up to avoid any confusion in the blogs.
